reasons why ctober is epic part one

two weeks ago, the very first weekend of october, was lovevolution (formerly known as lovefest). deadmau5 headlined. it was epic. you may recall me posting some of his tracks if you scroll down 2-3 entries. i will continue.

yesterday was treasure island music festival (timf). the three biggest acts were: MSTRKRFT, Girl Talk, and MGMT. and i got to see all three. i have pictures and videos, on fbook, for you to check out if you're so inclined. all were pretty amazing to see live, and i feel as though i can die happy now! :D

anyway, i'll cut my entry short with a couple new recs:
1. kid cudi ft ratatat and MGMT - pursuit of happiness
2. kid cudi ft ratatat - alive

enjoy!

iTunes?

hello peoples,

don't know if you check iTunes for its single of the week, but you (and by you, i mean esp Puja) might like this week's by La Roux (hope the link works).

14 September 2009

and now for a rather significant digression...

1 | i finally gave in. and got an iPod.

2 | idk if you guys are into A Fine Frenzy or not, but she just released a new album. i am still slightly unimpressed w/ this new one, esp given how good the first one is, but "Blow Away" definitely grew on me after i watched the super cute video. i'm a sucker, what can i say.

3 | i have Mochi the Bear! whose turn is it to have him now?

13 September 2009

getting increasingly

more into house and dubstep. my fav song right now is deadmau5 - ghosts 'n' stuff, and i actually recently found out (thank you, fonzie) there's a dubstep remix, by nero. it is so good, i can't even begin to describe the mad love i have for it. check it out here.

that being said, i can't wait to see deadmau5 play at the lovevolution (formerly known as lovefest) afterparty rave. it's gonna be so epic! i also bought tickets for the mika concert in october. i love the calvin harris remix of his first single (we are golden) from his new cd, also called we are golden. the second single is okay, meh.

also getting into empire of the sun (once again, thank you, fonzie). especially the songs "we are the people" and "half mast." too lazy to find them on youtube, sorry. anyway, the library beckons. sad face.

ciao ciao

from my newest summer mix cd

this summer, i burned a mix cd. i loved it. we listened to it on the way to vegas, on the way back, and then i listened to it for a good month.
and then i got sick of some tracks.
so i took the ones i wasn't listening to out, and replaced them with new tracks i liked.
and then i got sick of some of those tracks.
so i replaced them again, and am on my third mix cd (:

most of these tracks are really uplifting, with a nice dance-y beat. going to EDC this summer has put me in a mood for house music. it may not be your thing, but listen anyway. some of my fav songs of the summer:

david guetta - love takes over (ft. kelly rowland)
david guetta - sexy bitch (ft. akon)
MGMT - of moons, birds, & monsters (holy ghost! remix)
phoenix - 1901
kaskade - 4 am (adam k and soha remix)

other tracks include: kanye west - love lockdown (LMFAO remix), and black eyed peas - i got a feeling.

27 April 2009

it's been awhile

since any of us last posted :/
so i'm posting now! yay!! (:
i saw jack's mannequin (with matt nathanson and low vs. diamond) and bloc party play live!
both shows were amazing<3
so i'm going to talk about the opening acts for jack's mannequin, since both of them were really good. the first band to go up was low vs. diamonds. i'd never heard of them before, and we got there pretty late, so we were only able to hear the last two songs of their set. i loved those songs. so check out killer b and don't forget sister.

then there was matt nathanson. oh, he was epic! first of all he is a talented musician. his songs and voice are beautiful<3 car crash, answering machine (sorry, guys, i could only find live versions), and for fun, watch him cover journey!

enjoy!!

06 April 2009

between us and them

so i first heard this song in a MAC store (the make up, not apple) in new york. it was playing at what i like to call, "the opportune moment." it fit the mood, made the ambiance, and perfectly described my mental state at the moment.

obviously i had to ask the employees what it was called and who it was by.
moving units - between us and them.
enjoy.

04 April 2009

Oh Perez

Anyone check out Heidi Montag's songs? Hahaha... sooo bad yet sooo good.

(Yes I know I currently listen to really bad music).

12 March 2009

So good

The Fray - You Found Me. This song never ceases to amaze me. Love.

07 March 2009

oh literature

Yesterday in my history section, my TA referenced Kurt Vonnegut's "Harrison Bergeron." I don't know if you guys remember (or ever read) that story, but it's quite good. Also, the in-class reference made me happy :) People still read!

04 March 2009

momentary reflection

some songs are just better when they're played really loud.

really loud.

03 March 2009

my new fav song

the black ghosts - anyway you choose to give it.
man i love it when itunes plays AWESOME songs.
listen to it here.

also, i'm really liking stuff off of the ratatat album, LP3. and the new the fray album. oh and i reaaaaaally love the new franz ferdinand album hehe :D

25 February 2009

going for a record

most posts in one night - 2
reigning champion - me

anyway, i can't believe i haven't posted about these lovely ladies yet.
with all the rain that's been happening here in the great city of the stars, the weather has been perfect for loving Priscilla Ahn ("Rain," "Wallflower," "Red Cape").

also, Meiko has a similar style, but this is definitely one of the best songs i've heard in a while. it's all about the lyrics.

24 February 2009

Joshua Radin

So I am a big fan of the style of music Joshua Radin happens to fall under. Call it whatever you want. Anyway, his song "They Bring Me to You" is a current fav. So sweet :) Hey guys, have some mercy. Sometimes it's time to be sappy.

18 February 2009

[how could you be so] heartless

guess what i stumbled upon today!
the fray covered the song, "heartless," by kanye west. it sounds so much better when they sing it haha..
check it out!!
enjoy (:

04 February 2009

in honor of

electropop night, i bring you
attack attack - "set the sun (klaas remix)", which was actually given to me by jimmy.
enjoy.

27 January 2009

you lot

are certainly quiet :/ i will assume you are busy with school (as am i, which is kind of why i haven't been posting either hehe...)
book stuff: i was having dinner at dom's place with him and sara, when i stumbled upon his copy of the his dark materials trilogy. i haven't reread it in quite some time, so i picked it up, and kind of walked out the door with it haha... yeah.
other than that, i'm reading il decamerone, by giovanni bocaccia. it is very... canterburry tales-esque, but a lot more lewd. sigh.

music: i was recently introduced to tecktonik, by sara. apparently, it is the dance they invented to dance to techno music, since there previously hasn't been one. it's also huge in europe right now; she said kids would do it in clubs and stuff while she was in italy and spain. check out the dance here. i found the song catchy, so i downloaded the entire mondotek album.

other stuff i've been listening to lately include: belle&sebastian, ladyhawke, phantom planet (especially the song, "too much too fast"), and the nightmare before christmas soundtrack.

hope you all are doing well (:

08 January 2009

aar

this is twice in two days that i have been pleasantly surprised by tracks from the new all american rejects cd i recently got in the mail (thank you, amazon). (:

03 January 2009

reunion

the four ladies behind mochi's infinite playlist, as well as mochi the bear got together today, for the first time since the formation of this blog (:
mochi has been passed from j. to other j.
it was good seeing you today, my lovelies<3
